Well we all know some guitarists who are overrated...so how about some who are underrated, and not given enough credit where it's due? :rockout:

I'd say John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mike Einziger of Incubus.

Jimi Hendrix. Why? Because he can simply never be rated high enough. His recorded output and influence in such a short period of time is utterly amazing still.

Other than that I would say David Grissom. He's played with John Mayhall, John Mellencamp, was a member of the highly underrated Austin bluesrock outfit Storyville, and the lead guitarist/band leader on the Dixie Chicks last stadium tour. Really like his style/tone and seems few people know him.

I defenitely agree with Jimi hendrix and John Frusciante, Johns a great guitarist, but I never see him ranked anywhere above 100 on guitar lists. I never liked navarros style of playing.

I like The Edge. I think I like his ability to change style. He has to think in Rythm and Lead when he writes I think this is very hard to do. But the answer to this question is actually easy. It is the guitatrist who made you take up the guitar. Sambora, Satriani, Hendrix, Slash or The Edge it dosent matter it is there influence on us that is. I also like Hank Marvin (The Shaddows) too. He always looks like he is enjoying playing

Joe Satriani is pretty underrated too. He's an amazing player, but I never hear people talking about him.

Some of the tracks off his anthology album are mindblowing. Absolutely crazy.
