So here is my rack-mount set-up:

  • Rocktron Piranha- Midi (tube) Preamp,
  • BBE Sonic Maximizer- General noise control
  • Ibanez UE 405-
    • Compressor,
    • Stereo Chorus,
    • Parametric equalizer,
    • Analog Delay

+Plus a Korg DTR-1000 tuner, and a Furman PL - 8 Power conditioner.

Here is my problem. I need a power amp to go with this, and I'd like to find one with out any EQ or gain controls. I just want volume. I've thought about trying to find a slave head to use, but for convience sake I'd like to find somethign rack mount. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

This is all going to a custom made cabnet that can handle up to 725 watts.
  • Eminence Big Ben 15" (up to 225 Watts)
  • x2 Jensen P8R 8" (up to 50 WAtts each)
  • x2 Jensen C12K 12" (up to 200 Watts each)

I also have a 15" extention cab with a Big Ben in it that I use in larger venues.

Thanks for ayn help I get.

p.s. I'd ideally like some thing that runs best at 8 ohms

There's many power amps on the market. Do you want all tube or solid state?

Either or, I'm trying to minimize feed back and still get a solid distortion sound. The main thing of it all is enough power, and affordablilty

I would go with a tube power amp, but if your trying to save a buck it's proberly not for you. Solid State is fine just doesn't have the warm tone I like.

I also have a Rocktron Piranha and BBE Sonic Maximizer. I run them through a Mesa Boogie Fifty/Fifty Power amp. It is rack mounted (2RU) has plenty of power and brings out the tone of the Piranha. It really gives my rig balls.

A good power amp makes a huge difference. Definitely go tube if you want a big rich sound.

You should be able to pick one up second hand if you can't afford one new.
