Obviously with a $200 guitar you are going to have to play it before buying
it.
If you were spending $1000 or something it might be easier to point you in
the right direction however for $200 I would just play every guitar in the
store at that price range and pick the best one for you.
Ive had yamaha, fender and ibanez acoustics and I can only recomend the
ibanez...keeping in mind that my ibanez is over 20 years old...Ive heard
new ibanez are not that good...so going by brand could be a disaster in the
making.
Its tough for me or anyone to tell you whats good or not because whats good
to me might not be good for you...for instance ovation guitars...lots of
people like them and think their good however I cant stand them and hate
playing one.
What can I say...I would check for a good old second hand acoustic or maybe
save more cash for a better one.
When buying cheaper acoustics you have to play the guitar because the
action on cheaper guitars can be really high and in turn very tough to
play.
Oh and of course...this site...THE GUITAR FILES sells cheaper
acoustics...maybe you could buy one from this site

Under 200.oo dollars is a togh place. If your willing to go up in price
around 350.00-500.oo I would recommend the seagull guitar . This in my
opinion is the biggest bang for your buck. I had bought one in Lakewood
washington and it played like a thousand dollar guitar. Great tone, great
action, durable, good volume definately one of the best acoustic guitar for
under 500.00 dollars. Anything under 200.00 is just the plywood special of
the month, and your better off saving your money for a better quality
guitar. |

Mine is a
Johnson acoustic, it's about 100 dollors, my dad bought it for me on
Chrismas 2005 so i've only been playing it for almost a year.
I got it at Nat's Music store in Jasper; ever seen the advertisement on TV.
it's a hole body Rosewood with Martins strings; it's a six string. ____________________ DoubleTrouble |

Two Guitars for you to look at, the Takamine Jasmine ES31C Acoustic
Electric Guitar for about $175. The other guitar I would suggest is the
Applause AE128 Acoustic Electric Guitar for $199. The Applause (which is a
Ovation product) has really good strong low end (unamped) but the high end
is a little anemic. |

Ibanez sells the PF for about 130.00. It's not a great
guitar , but it will do until you can buy a better guitar.
Fender also sells some CHEAPIES!! But I hate their cheap acoustics. Not
worth wasting your money on.
Look at used guitars. You may find a good deal on an Epiphone or a decent
Yamaha. ____________________

I disagree, there's alot to buying a guitar not by the name as most people
do for some reason. What kind of wood does the top have? How about the back
and sides? hardware? There's 100's of brand names and non brand names that
use the same woods, hardware so why do poeple buy a name such as
Gibson,Fender, etc... When I buy a guitar these days I go the other way and
look for companies I never heard of and most of the time they try harder
and build better guitars to get a name for themselves. I read alot of the
new files here for new companies and then look into them. I love when
someone says man that guitar sounds awsome but who makes it... Who gives a
S**T
Mohagony is Mohagony Grover tuners are Grovers tuners, Spruce is Spruce get
the point. Are you collecting or playing

Tatoo,
He's looking for an entry level 200.00 or less guitar.
I mentioned Ibanez and Fender guitars because I owned them. The Ibanez was
by far my favorite in that price range.
Yamaha makes a quality guitar cheaper than most big names. You usually can
find a decent used guitar in the 250.00 range.
200.00 or less Tatoo...
Wood is not wood. Aged wood holds a richer tone. Also theres a quality
issue in the pices selected to build the guitar. So on and so on..
