Kayso my question is about the tone knob on my guitar. It can be pulled out but Im really not sure if this is supposed to happen or not. If so what is the point of it and how will the sound differ with it in/out?

It's proberly a 250K or 500K audio taper pot with double pole/double throw (DP/DT) switch. It can be
used for coil tap, reverse phase, series/parallel wring etc...

For example: You can wire a humbucker and when the pot in pushed down it's playing through both coils and when you pull it up it's a single coil etc....

The skys the limit with wiring and sounds you can achieve from these pots.

The guitar is a fender "Custom Tele Special limited Edition". ( I am assuming you are familiar with this site) to see the specs.

Please don't post links to other music stores.

That's one function. It's basically a DPDT switch just like on a wah pedal with true bypass but in a pot form. A DPDT switch has 6 prongs. You can hook up a 3pDT switch with 9 prongs and get even more.... The standard is SPDT with 3 prongs which comes standard in most off the shelf wah pedals.

Yeah, there are many uses for them
My dad has a Godin Artisan TC that has one used for phase switching on it's single coil sized twin blade humbuckers.
But on the Tele mrohio has, it's a coil tap
