I'm looking for any information that I can get about a Canadian luthier, Olivo.

My brother bought an Olivo bass about 25 years ago at a store closing and now it's time to get some more info.

Thanx...

Hi All,
I thought i would bring this thread back from the past..
Did anyone ever find out about Olivo?
I went to 12th fret in Toronto Canada with my Olivo and got told that it was related to Lado... I've emailed Joe at Lado regarding this and will be sending pictures shortly.

Incidentally, to the person who's got the Olivo, does it have a number stamped into the neck at all?
Many thanks,
Jacqui

Hi gents

I bought an Olivo guitar when I was in canada in 2001 (vancouver island)
This electric guitar is built like a bass, the neck and the body is made of maple. The neck goes straight to the body with two rosewood stripes like it was done back in the '80s on electric bass. The neck is actually carved to the body, a real fine job.

It has a tremendous sound (2x bartolini soapbars with active electronics) and lots of sustain.

I bought it for $400 in a second-hand store... selling water filters and few odds things. I don't think the man did ever realize the value...
I figured this was one of the best deal I ever made.

To Jacqui, it has a number stamped on the fingerboard at the 14th fret => O2

So, the guitar is now in France with me and I play it almost every day. A real keeper.

So if anyone here have infos about the craftman who built this masterpiece ... please post-it !

Many thanks

Anton.

I have an Olivo fretless bass that I picked up in Hamilton, ON about 16 years ago. Looks like the same design and wood selection.

I'd be happy to post a pic if someone wants to explain exactly how to do that...

Here's a link to another one at a Hamilton music shop:

What's the number stamped on the back of the headstock?

Mine is C-4.
