Looking at tab is like looking at your guitar neck sitting on your lap and
you are looking down at it...
(example below)
The # 0 means you place no fingers on the strings and you hit the string on
its own...or open as its called.
# 1 means you count up one fret and place your finger on the first fret and
in this case on the high E string...(see below)
You need to remember that 0 means no fingers on the neck and the string is
played open and in example below its a High E string...After 0 its a matter
of counting frets...if the number is 10 then count up ten frets remembering
that 0 is open and 1 is first fret...
If notes are together the are played simutaniously or all together like a
chord...(example E minor below)
If they are spaced out like the 0 and 1 then they are played one note at a
time.
E---0---1-----------0---------------------------
B--------------------0-----------------------
G--------------------0------------------------
D--------------------2-----------------------
A--------------------2----------------------
E--------------------0-------------------
........................E minor..........

To read tab all you have to do is count...0 means zero fret...1 means first
fret...3 means 3rd fret...4 means 4th fret...5 means fith fret...6 means
6th fret an so on.
Yes each number is a note however lets keep it simple for now and just put
your finger on the numbered fret and on the proper string.
(Examples below) 5 is played on the fith fret on the high E string... 3 is
played on the thrid fret on the D string... 2 is played on the second fret
on the A string... the two 00 are played together on the G and B strings
with no fingers on the guitar neck(this means they are played open... or
0(zero fret)...its all about counting frets and placing your fingers on
that fret and on the correct string.
E--5-----------------
B----------------------0---
G----------------------0---
D--------3------------
A----------------2----
E--------------------
