Ok,so ive been playing my acoustic guitar for at least 2 months or more
now,and my guitar teacher gives me little assignments every lesson (i got
to him every saturday) like "try and learn this song and so and so and when
you come back next week, try your best to play it for me",and so last
week,he gave me some chords to learn. I understood them, now i have to
switch from C chord to G7 chord.
Yeah,he gave me a G7 chord,i just thought there was a G chord and thats it.
Im beginning to love chords and all,but anyway, when I play the G7 chord, on
the first string my finger leans on its side so the side of the tip of my
finger is pressing down the fret(kinda hurts). I cant exactly just place
the tip of my finger on the first string,it leans. Are there any hand
positions that I could learn to make my switching from C to G chord easier?
Because when I switch from note to note,it takes like 4 seconds. Im trying to
jump from each chord, like when I wanna switch chords Ill take my fingers
off a little and place them on the next chord I want to play. Oh yeah, and
where do i place my thumb? i mean i know where but like, what position?
p.s. - my
teachers tells me to use my wrist to make switching easier but I dont know
what he really means cause I try but it doesnt work I guess! Help!

If you find it hard to play a G7 then change elbow position...meanig if
your elbow is to close to your body it will make it harder to form the
chord.
Think of G and C as the same...I hope you can read guitar tab...
E----------1-----------------------------------
B---1------------------------------------------
G---3-----------------------------------------
D---2--------------2-----------2----------------
A---3------2-------3-----2----3----2-----------
E-----------3-------------3----------3----------
.....c7.....G7.......Anchors for C and G
practice going back and forth with these anchors as I call them...use your
ring and middle fingers...once you have these down comfortable its all
gravy then...well there is still work and practice however try getting the
anchors first in a chord then lay on the other notes as fast as you can so
It looks seemless eventually...You can also have some fun with these
anchors as I call them... -0-h-2-- means to hit the first note then lay the
second note down without plucking the string on the second note.
1st bar
E-----------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------
G-----------------0--------------------------------------0-
D----2---0-h-2---------------------0------2---0-h-2--
A----3-------------------2---0-h-2--------3-------------
E-------------------------3-----------------------------
E------------------------------------------------------
B------------------1------------------------------------
G-----2--0-h-2------------------------------------------
D-----3----------------------------------------------
A------------------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------
Repeat the first bar then finish.

Don't forget moving your thumb down on the back of the neck helps too. |

Well, i'll try my best to help you out.
Finger your C chord, and I assume you are playing open G7.
All you have to do are move your index finger down a string and your middle
and ring up a string. Try to twist your wrist a little to the right. It
should kind of do it naturally, but who knows. ____________________ If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother
