Ok, iw as looking around ebay and some stores. On ebay i found this one,

no posting links to products

And then theres this one,

again no posting links to products

Which doesnt convince me that much because it is so cheap! Then i took a look in wal-mart. Heres this one:

No Wally World links either

I really cant buy a guitar that is alot more than that price range. And i really want to play the electric guitar! Are any of these good enough?

p.s: If you look at the Seller information on the right it gives you the feed-back on that person from everybody who bought from them. They seem to be very happpy with what they got... I really hope i can buy something in a price range of underneath 150$!

My advice is that you get what you buy. You can always sell a nice guitar later. If you get a real cheep guitar that goes out of tune, have poor tone and not set up well, you'll regret it and may not stay intrested in playing

Although I am also a newbie, I have done a lot of research and suggest you go with a better brand. Not one that's gonna fall apart. Really good guitars (like PRS) are the kind of guitars really experienced people use, so I suggest you get a Fender or Dean. Dean's are the best, in my opinion. That's what I'm getting. They just seem to fit me best. They feel good. Plus you don't want to buy a really nice guitar and then decide you don't really want to anymore or don't have time. That'd suck, huh? The world isn't made of money, unfortuneatly. ;) So, get a cheaper end guitar from a good brand. :) Hope this helps and hopefully this is good advice and is accurate. :)

EDIT: Oh wait a second, you said UNDER $150? Well a cheaper end good brand guitar would usually fall under $300 or something. So, get a guitar like a Fender Squire or an off-brand. I mean, at least you'll be getting a guitar. You DO get what you buy. If you pay a fair amount, it'll probably last pretty long and will give you a good, fat sound. But if you get a cheapy, you'll get a slightly flat or twangy sound. You really want something start out with to learn on, so I suggest taking someone else's advice. Like brian or Spidercents. :)

If I had $120 to $150 bucks I would by second hand from the classifieds in the newspaper or off of ebay...Get a half decent guitar for cheap...There are people who are willing to sell cheap...I might buy it in person before I would buy off of ebay...

Things to check on a used guitar so you dont get ripped off

# 1 Plug it in to see if it crakles or there is unwanted noise...play with the tone, volume and toggle for cracks or hiss of any kind.

# 2 Tap the back of the neck to hear if it rattles(rattle is bad)

# 3 check tuning keys and see if they are loose or plastic(loose is bad and plastic tuning keys suck)

# 4 Check to see if neck is not warped(many ways to tell)

# 5 Make sure fret steel is not worn to much...a little is fine

# 6 Check for blemishes or cracks or scratches to indicate that the guitar might of been dropped or abused.

Thats about it...I would not buy the guitars you posted in the links in the first post of this thread unless I needed firewood...lol...just kidding

You can get a new with full waranty for that price. The cheaper guitars now days continue to amaze me. As we always say don't pay attention to the name. If it plays and sounds good, it's good.

Thats not alot to spend on a guitar but it is possable to get somthing for that. I would never buy a cheap guitar on line or out of the paper because most of the time you do get what you pay for. There are alot of good cheap ones out there but at that price I would want to play it before I bought it. You are a beginer so I would go to a store or Paun shop and sit down and just press the strings down in different places on the neck for a few minutes and see if it hurts. alot of cheap guitars have to high of string and are really uncomfortable. you want somthing you can work with for at least a half hour to an hour. the sound isn't the main concern until you are playing songs. I would go for the playablity first. You can think about lookin good and sounding good when you get better. You also want to make sure that when you press the strings down at different places on the neck that the strings don't buzz. that can be frustrating as hell when your trying to learn cords. When you learn to play the guitar you can get a better sounding one and while your learning save money. If you keep playing you will fiend a way to get a better guitar. P.S. Good luck and stick with it.

You share the dilemma that most of us experienced when we started. Unless you have siblings or friends that play you are hard pressed to recognize a sweet axe from a miseable dog. I agree that you should play a few before you take the plunge. And the key here is playability!

You need to consider what type of music you mostly want to play. IF you dig the heavy riffs of AC/DC or judas priest get a guitar with humbuckers. IF you prefer the crooning of the cranberries, pink floyd or stevie ray, get a single coil pickups like a strat knock-off.

My first guitar was a Peavey Strat knock-off starter kit. I think I paid about $200 for guitar, gig, amp etc....Not really that bad of a guitar. If I had to do it again I would spend a bit more and get a mexican fender. They have good necks.

If you must buy new have you considered and Ibanez GAX30 or similar? These go for about $150.

Look into a Behringer V-Tone.

You can get the guitar, amp and gig bag and picks for $109 here.

The guitar is in the league with a Squire and the amp is worth the price alone.

Get the Behringer pack and tuner and some good quality strings( Elixir or Daddario electric strings ) and have at it!

I have done my research believe me!

I am ordering one of these for myself come this weekend after I get paid.
