actually i know no one is ever too old to start something new - i just may
have less time to finish it!
i am another n00b and this is my first post here - an old dude as my sons
friends like to call me. i'm a drummer but have always loved guitar. i
never put the effort into learning to play because i am cursed with short
stubby fingers. i recently purchased my son and daughter a couple of epi'
SG specials and marshall practice amps. they sound pretty good for the $ -
any hope for me to be able to play bar chords with my sausage fingers?
also, been looking at the posts on books, CD's etc. good info on here. i
would like any critiques on the gear mentioned above and some good starting
points for learning if anyone will help. thanks |

| I have a friend who has the same problem with big fingers...thick
fingers...He liked the guitar also...he plays however I talked him into
playing the bass and I taught him to play the bass...He is a better bass
player than me now because of those fingers...Never give up...Keep
trying...good luck ! ____________________ Treat people the way you would want to be treated. |

Keep on play'n man. I'm 42 and haven't played in 25 years(when I did play I
really sucked) But I got back into it and just keep plugging along.
I overheard one of my 15 year old daughters friends tell her "he has
guitars, rides a cycle and keeps rats as pets, how cool is that for an old
dude"
OK, so I'm not Ward Cleaver but I'm happy.
Years ago I had over five thousand dollars worth of equiptment and could'nt
play mary had a little lamb.(I wound up selling it all for almost
nothing).
Now I play way better Than I ever dreamed and my guitars and amps combined
cost less than a thousand.
The point is I'm playing and practicing and doing what I set out to do
years ago. good luck and keep jammin. ____________________ RATKEEPER

That and have lots of fun with it. Nobodies the best. I never met a
guitarist I couldn't learn from. |

Thats true...and its not a competition either...I used to jam with guys who
could play things I couldnt and vice versa...You try to compliment the
other guitarist...oops...Im getting a little off topic...have fun...and
remember that learning is the funest part of guitar...after you find out
the secrets of how things are done its kind of a let down...I miss the days
of starting to learn guitar...It was fun.
