Hey I was just wondering what kind of amp can get the mid 80s Randy
Rhoads/Eddie Van Halen sound. I would tottally go for a 50w from the mid
80s because thats when they sounded the best...but theyre speakers have
been changed since then and theyre REALLY expensive. If anyone knows of a
fairly cheap amp with that awesome 80s metal sound, let me know! |

See if you can find a JCM 800 series marshall head/cab or combo amp. There
still around local music shops used. Most people like myself are holding on
to then. :giggly: |

I also use a mid 80's JCM 800 head with a Marshall 4X12 cab tooled with
Green Back speakers. The head has been re tubed with Groove tubes. I use a
Les Paul Standard + with a EMG 81 at the bridge and an 85 at the neck. you
can't go wrong with a Marshall and a paul!! |

The 5150 is tuned in just like the Marshall 800 series. Great amp but I
like the marshall better. Marshall's not the only amp that has a great
sound. Mesa Boogie,Randall(Tube) etc... |
