I have a Marshall TSL 100... now if i change out the tubes in this thing from the stock ones to new groove tubes, how much will that make a difference in my overall sound? The stock power tubes are fairly new, russian made. The preamp tubes say marshall on them and all look different (sizes) one is fatter..... I've heard that sometimes its a pretty dramatic difference? lemmy know mangs! thanks.

Also have an old fender with a vibro effect on it... probably made mid 70's... i was play'n it.. and the SOB started smoke'n on me, and now it doesnt work, haha. Anyone have an idea?

Make sure you get around the same rating tube or you will have to rebias your amp. Groove Tubes are great that's what I use. They match their tubes and make them better.

Sounds like your Fender amp needs a new transformer I had the same thing happen.

Thanks for the knowledge mang... now what about perhaps a brighter, Cleaner clean channel? Better quality distortion and sustain with new tubes?

also would ya know where to get a new transformer or maybe a quick pricing on one for a small fender practice amp like that?

thanks again

A bright clean channel on a Marshall, that'll be the day.
I'm not a big fan of Marshalls, that's why I use a Fender, much brighter clean channel

If you want a nice clean tone and distortion go with a 5 to 7 rating.

I prefer a 5 rating myself. The lower the rating the more headroom resulting in a cleaner tone.
