It's been a while since we've seen Ricoboc so I felt I better take over until we elect another mod for this forum. Sorry Ricoboc no pun intended

Ok let's take a look at Kirk Hammett as a guitarist. Do you like his style, licks, and do you think he should be in the same category as say Hendrix,EHV,Page etc.

I would rate him 2-5. He's ok but nothing to write home about. He's more of a songwriter then a guitar slinger. Which there's nothing wrong with that.

What do you think?

I dont sence much soul in his playing. Nothing really original, same over-over-driven guitar. Thats just me.

He has a few good riffs...I like ride the lightning, master of puppets, and justice for all was not bad...Thats all I like of their music...I would give him a 4 to 6 out of ten...4 for feeling and a 6 for technique...He can play...just not much feeling.Sounds to much like he is playing scales...Im not into that.

I quite like Hammett, his stuff on Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning is amazing. That's just my opinion though.

I like metallica's slow leads...They are really cool...The fast ones are ok...

Damn, ziggy's been putting us all to sleep for days, but now he's working his magic on himself.... The man is a machine...

Mr. Hammett, while being a doozy guitarist comes from the hair-era of "speed metal", and while I like listening to some, I don't think it ranks up there with the greats(Pee Wee Herman, Zamfir and the guy who does the "Law & Order" theme).

The tunes are great as was already said up to "Load" album, then I quit listening to them(or so my lawyer will say) because of their attacks against their listeners.

thanks,
json

Kirk is OK he messes up metallica's tough guy theme because he's a little light in his loafers. Overall I will give him 3-5 as a guitarist.

And he said about the beatles in a guitar magazine along the lines of "I f****** loathed those candy asses". Better musicians, Kirk Hammett or the Beatles. Im gonna have to go with the Beatles. I doubt few would disagree.
