So how does Jimmy Page stand on your list. Do you like his playing? Sound? Songwriting?

I like jimmy in led zeppelin. However after zep I havent liked anything hes has done.I loved zep at one time however have worn out on it.I listend to it way to much.Jimmy is not that great of a player live.On the song remains the same everyone played well except for jimmy who I thought struggled thruogh the whole concert.John bonams drums were to loud, however john played well.John was the band.Without his drum riffs and timings 75% of Zeps songs would never of been wrote. He brought the best out of jimmy which nobody else has done to this day.Jimmy is a studio genious and can capture moments on tape most of us forget to do.So hes a great player in the studio sense.I think of him as more of a producer than a great guitar player.I think he recorded everthing he played and had great moments that were captured that might never come again. So for that hes great.

you must be a drummer! thats ok tho.

page and bonam were a great pair. which probably explains why you didnt like jimmy after zeppelin. bonam (which i think is actually spelled bonham, but ill continue to spell it this way) worked off of page as well. a great example of this is"the ocean". the drums (snare especially) song fit perfect in that song. and if im correst page came up with the opening riff before bonam wrote the drum part. (which is usually how most songs are made guitar part then drums)

theres a chance that when you saw zep page was drunk. they were a haevy drinking band .bonham drank himself to death. and it sounds to me that you are judging jimmy on his performance after zeppelin. just because you dont liek his music doesnt mean he wasnt a great player. but this topic is different from the one i had previopusly posted which simply asked does he make your top 10 list. but thats ok. i love zep which is probably why im defending page so much. that and this one dvd i saw page playing his fingers where flying all over the palce amazing speed, and he didnt miss a note.

o yeah i forgot stairway to heaven. dont try to tell me that the every drummer takes time to learn the amazing drum part in that song. every single person on the face of the earth could hum you that song. the truth is theres no zeppelin song where the drum parts made the song or were just real memorable, maybe rock n roll, but if you ask me that drum solo just annoys me.

jimmy page drove zeppelin!

He dosent play well live drunk or not.Drummers do learn stairway.
I like Jimmy in zep.Anything else like outrider(I think thats the name) or whatever is not that good to me.Bohnams playing was the key to the band.Robert Plant will tell you that.I'm not discrediting jimmy on any riffs or licks.Like I said he probably recorded everything he did.I thought jimmy was the greatest at one time too. However I now realize the impact john bohnams drumming was.He was the backbone of zep.I'm not discrediting anything jimmy wrote.I didnt say anything to make you think that.I'm not a drummer.Guitar is my thing.Hopfully youll see the impact his drumming had on jimmys playing and vice versa of course.John fed off of jimmy to however the timings that john had took it to a place that no one else could. The bass player was very good too.He dosent get enough credit.

Jimmy was very inventive and has left his mark on the guitar world. It's all 4 that made the band not just one guy. Team work!

Guitar 101 has said it best.All 4.

Out of ten I rate Jimmy like this

His Album play-# 8 to # 10 out of ten

His live playing-#bad #really bad

I cant listen to the song remains the same because his playing is so bad.I believe I read A quote from Eddie van Halen that said Jimmy played like a five year old when playing live.I agree.

i listened to botth the live and studio versions of the song remains the same, and with an exception to some fans screaming and some extra feedback (nothing to serious) it was the same.

jimmy page is a great guitar player 10 out of 10. anyways i think your jealous of his performance in the song remains the same. i bet you cant even play it.

I don't mean to be rude Spidercents, but you're talking poop.
I have the most recent Led Zep DVD that covers footage from the entire span of thier career and there's sweet FA wrong with his live performances.

I live Jimmy Page becase the best Led Zep stuff was recorded on a Telecaster.
1.Stairway to heaven
2.Communication brakdown
3.Dazed and confused
and so on. :giggly:
