Hellooo, ive just registered! I have only been playing guitar for about 6 months, and i have been teaching myself. I seemed to have stopped progressing recently because i don't know what to do next.

I've learnt all the techniques like bends and slides ect. I know the basic chords and can play simple riffs and scales.
What do you suggest i do next??

Hi Hannah,
Welcome!
I have found that over time I reach certain plateau's with my music. I learn a lot and progress rapidly, then kind of level out and coast for a while, not learning anything new. Like climbing a mountain, stop and rest for a while, maybe reflect on your goals. In the meantime... practice, practice, practice!
Good luck,

Get used to it this happens no matter what stage you are as a guitarist.

When you practice it's good to review but you must break down a focus on new things, this is why we call it practice right. You can work on new scales, chords, improve your rhythmskills ,lead skills, ear training, your guitars tone and the list goes on...

Check out this file

Hope this helps

Setting goals is key....
Work with a metronome....try to increase speed...keep trying to move forward...
Try not to get distracted while practicing....never practice infront of the T.V......
SET GOALS!!!!! Theres always goals to reach....long term and short term...map out what you want to do in short term...then decide where you want to be say 2 years from now....you'll never get in a rut this way...you may feel your not advancing but you are.....your your own worst critic.....

Hi Hannah.
Like the other guys have said, it happens to the best of us.
I'd recomend figuring out what styles you want to play the most, and investigating the various techniques etc, that are involved in playing them. Delve deep into them and explore every aspect so that you gain an understanding and the ability to put them into practise.

It's clear to me that you're ready to begin touring. Don't listen to these other guys. Get some roadies that you can beat up and be at the bus station by 10 tonight.

thanks,
json

P.S.-Bring your metronome.
