Allright, I need a third opinion on a couple questions facing me after I just got my guitar back from maintenance and repairs at an apparently well known and respected shop in the city. Since I'm new to this site, I'm not sure if this is exactly the right Forum to post in, but it seems to fit best so here goes: I basically took it in after it had been dropped on the input jack in such a way that the screw bent irreparably and making it cut out while playing. the only option was of course to replace the jack in this scenario so i had the people do that as well as check out the wiring and touch up the intonnation, because i hadn't had it done on this guitar yet.

well anyway I just got it back earlier today and was at first quite impressed with how much better it plays, the tone of the guitar comes through better than before, the upper register resonates beautifully, and the sound of the guitar is just overall much nicer. However, I kept gettin annoyed by the hum and buzz coming from the thing, much more so than last time i played it. and not only that, it reacts in such a weird way now too; for example prior to this episode when i touched the strings or bridge with my hand the buzzing would die down, but now it gets louder... additionally, when the volume is set from 1 to 7 or so, there is an extremely uncomfortable buzz that suddenly changes to a more mellow but still annoying one once it goes higher. There just seems to be a lot of trouble with all the connections and stuff now that the staff there either didn't catch, didn't know what they were doing, or didn't care about.

If i could get some more opinions on this, that'd be great. I don't wanna barge into the store yelling about how they ripped me off when they explain that the problem will sort itself out or something, so as such I'd like to be **** sure when I embarass myself demanding either for a refund or getting the aforementioned problems worked out for free that I know what the hell I'm doing. Thanks for any help!

I changed the title of your thread to match your post. This will others when searching for answers.

Anyways.. I best thing I would recommend is take it back ASAP to the shop and explain to them what's going on. It's should be free the 2nd time.

Sounds like they fouled the ground circuit. If you take it back, I'm sure they'll have no problems fixing it for you. It may seem like a lot of problems, but chances are great that it's all just caused by a single cold(bogus) solder joint.
