Learning the notes on the fretboard is an extremely important aspect of
playing guitar. Here are some drills for learning the notes quickly:
*Memorize Natural Notes on Low E, A, and D strings. The 7
natural notes, or musical alphabet, is ABCDEFG. Each natural note is
separated by 2 frets EXCEPT B-C and E-F, which are 1 fret apart.
*Use Reference Points such as the tuning frets (5th fret Low
E string, 5th fret A string, 5th fret D string, 5th fret G string, 4th fret
B string, and 5th fret high E string). You can also use the 12 fret notes,
for example, since these notes are EADGBE 1 octave higher than the open
strings.
*Use Octave Spacing Below are movable octave spacings.
---------------------------6---------
------------------6------------------
---------5----------------3----------
--5--------------3-------------------
---------3---------------------------
--3----------------------------------
*Use Note Names Whenever Possible
Good Luck to you all!
