Hey all--I've been using D'Addario strings for the past couple months but
they've already broken on me twice!! I've heard Martin strings are stronger
for acoustic, but are there any other brands you recommend? Thanks in
advance... |

D'Addario Strings are top knotch along with GHS,Ernie Ball etc..
Make sure your putting at least 3 windings around the tuning posts and the
string is not bend as this will cause a weakness and cause them to break.
Always how hard do you play?

I use D'Addario for electric and i use GHS for acoustic
I was wondering if you are breaking the same string when you play.

I'm sorry, but I believe that the strings have the least to do with your
tone than anything else. With that said, you should go with the toughest
strings that I've tried so far- GHS. Hey, they were even tough enough for
SRV! |

Hmm. It could be a combination of my crap stringing abilities and the
strings... It's usually the b string that ends up snapping. I'll give GHS a
shot I think.
Thanks! |

I would give the bridge saddle and guitar nut a closer inspection if you
keep breaking the same string and if the string seems to break in the same
place all the time...maybe there is a small burr or a peice of debris that
shouldnt be there and could be causing the breakage...just a thought.
I was also wondering what kind of guitar do you have
A cracked saddle can sometimes be the cause of string breakage...just
inspect the saddle to see if it has any minor cracks in it.
Not saying its cracked however it doesnt hurt to check it out anyway.
Example of a really cracked saddle...

That saddle looks like it's cracked due to being pulledone way.
too high to cope with the string tension.
As for strings, I use Martins, only strings I can't break ____________________ Technology, not technique

I'm looking to try out another one of GHS's strings- Nickel Rockers. Has
anyone used them and could describe their tone to me? Are they wayy mellow
or do they have some brightness in them? I'm looking for strings to suit my
strat with a deep but clear tone. I'm probably going to go with the 11's
just to let you know. |

I have a set of Nickel Rockers on my start right now.. I like them so far
kinda mellow great for blues/Rock. Eric Johnson has a signature set. |
