What is meant by single and double cutaway design? I realize it has something to do with the construction technique and the resulting flex and rigidity. I guess I'm looking for a more encompassing definition or graphic. Thanks.

the cutaway is the part of the body closest to the fretboard were most of guitars make one u shape on each side of the fret (double cutaway) like the gibson sg or a fender stratocaster, but some electric guitars only make one cutaway (single cutaway) like the gibson les paul and the fender tele caster.

i hope this is what you were asking about.
