I've been toying around with my Jag-stang recently and I've been thinking of different mods to use on it and I had the idea to disassemble a distortion pedal and wire the guts into the circuit before the output. The distortion would be controlled by a two way switch for either on or bypass settings, and I'm assuming that this would work like an active pickup with a 9V battery being required.

Is this idea even possible? I thought it would be neat to wire an effects pedal right into the guts of the guitar to eliminate the need for a footswitch.

It's a great idea and many people have done it. The hardest part is fitting all the parts in the guitar. I would try it on a junker first.

Why don't you just install a mod board? There are many out there, here's a link to one that's relatively inexpensive.

Sorry use the classifieds for selling products

I would build your own it would be a good learning experience. The parts are cheap and you can use a basic perf board
