Lick of the Month - November 2006
This months lick focuses on the guitar style of Carlos Santana. Included is his classic Black Magic Women song based in D minor(pentatonic)with a touch of the (D dorian) mode because the use of the natural 6 interval.Santana always focuses on melody in his licks over speed and tricks, this is why so many people remember his style. He's lead approach is very simple but effective proving you don't need to play fast but simply put the right notes in the right place! This is a great lick to learn because you will encounter arpeggios, bends, slides and again melody is the key! Included is the tab and midi for easy reference. Enjoy!
