Duane Eddy Gets A Signature Model from Gibson

Duane Eddy will launch his new Gibson Custom Shop signature guitar model by presenting the first one to legendary rock guitarist Joe Perry of Aerosmith (another recent Gibson signature artist) as part of a special event being held at the Cleveland Browns Stadium South Club lounge. The event kicks off the fourth annual FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands this coming weekend at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Inducted into the Rock Hall in 1994, Duane Eddy introduced what would become the classic sound of a low, twangy electric guitar with his 1958 hit "Rebel Rouser." Over the course of 34 chart singles and over 100 million records sold, he has been joined in the recording studio by such notable musicians as Paul McCartney, Art of Noise, George Harrison, Ry Cooder, Steve Cropper, John Fogerty, Jeff Lynne and many more.

The Duane Eddy Signature model, made by Gibson's Custom, Art & Historic division, features highly figured maple top, back and rims with multi-ply binding, a figured maple/walnut neck with a custom profile (on the slim side, per Eddy's specs), and 22-fret ebony fingerboard.

Electronics for this signature model include custom-wound single coil pickups for the classic Eddy twangy tone, each with their own volume and tone controls in addition to a master volume. There is also a custom L.R. Baggs bridge transducer which can be used alone or blended with the single-coils. The guitar also offers a Bigsby vibrato and comes finished in Rockabilly Brown.
