Who could play Jimi Hendrix onscreen? Apparently, the gig will go to Andre 3000, of the band OutKast, provided they can get a deal with the legendary guitarist's estate.
Mr. 3000 - real name Andre Benjamin - has just finished shooting on the movie Be Cool, a sequel to Get Shorty, and told MTV.com that he's really eager to do Jimi: "I've actually been trying to do this for four or five years. I've read biographies, seen every documentary, and seen every performance." There's just one little problem: "I'm not a great guitar player." He's developing the project with Albert and Allen Hughes, the twins who made From Hell and Menace II Society. Hendrix died in 1970, of the traditional drug overdose. He was only 27. |
