| brian writes This is a cool lick using Major 6ths, it's a great lick for building tension in your guitar solos. A major 6th is the distance from the root note of a major scale to the major 6th interval. In the key of A the major 6th interval would be A to E or the key of C the major 6th interval would be C to A and so on. In this example we are using the A Major Scale starting on the 6th string and working our way up. The song "Brown Eye Girl" by Van Morrison uses major 6ths as the main riff throughout the song.
