Reverend Musical Instruments has unveiled their new USA Chrome Elite series guitars. These American made guitars feature vintage-influenced body art, sandblasted onto smoked chrome aluminum. The idea was born when Reverend president Joe Naylor decided to borrow the visual vibe of a late 1930's sandblasted steel-body resonator guitar. The result was the Hawaiian Scene Rocco, shortly followed by the Hot Rod Flame motif.
The guitars feature Reverend's patented High Resonance Body design. This tone-chambered body uses high tech composite and polymer materials in combination with wood to produce a very resonant, lively and consistent instrument.
USA Chrome Elite guitars have an extra layer of smoked chrome aluminum laminated to the phenolic top and back. This aluminum surface is masked off with a pre-cut vinyl pattern, and then sandblasted by local Detroit area artist Scott Jacobs. The mask is then peeled off, leaving the design.
The aluminum layer does not change the sound, but it does provide extra shielding against hum. This is most noticeable with single-coil pickups such as our P-90's, which are 10% quieter when used with our aluminum finish bodies.
All guitars also feature the Bass Contour control. This passive bass reduction circuit adjusts between a slight bass roll-off to completely re-voicing the pickups. Humbuckers can be re-voiced to sound like single-coils, but without single-coil hum. P-90's can be re-voiced to sound like Fender-style pickups according to the company.
