This file is geared for the beginner or the guitarist who doesn't know the basic parts of a electric or acoustic guitar. If you don't know what a guitar bridge is or bridge saddle you might want to read over this file!

Head Stock - The top part of a guitar where the tuners are!

Tuners - Tuners are located on the guitars headstock
(The very top of the guitar).Tuners are used to tune the guitar!
Fine tuners are also placed on guitars with Floyd Rose systems

Nut - The nut is located just below the guitars headstock.
This is where the strings go through right before the tuning keys.

Frets - Frets are located on the guitars neck. There are usually 22 -24 frets.

Neck - The neck of a guitar is where you place your hand to fret chords, play scales etc. Some necks are set necks and others like a Fender Strat are bolt on.

Position Markers - Position Markers are the dots on the guitar fretboard. They are used for easy reference. They are located usually on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th,17th,19th and 21th frets. They are also located on the side of the neck but not always!

Sound Hole - The soundhole is located on the top center of the body of a acoustic or acoustic electric guitar. This is where the sound comes out of the guitar.

Body - The body of the guitar is what you hold to play it.

Pickups - The guitars pickups are used to produce a electrical sound
on a electric guitar and acoustic electric. The pickups are made of
magnets that pickup the guitar strings vibration and in return
produces the sound you hear out of an amplifier.

PickGuard - The pickguard is used to protect the guitar from
scratches etc. On some guitars like the fender stratocaster, the pickguard holds the pickups, knobs etc.

Saddle - The saddle is used on a acoustic guitar and electric guitar
It is located on a acoustic guitars bridge made of plastic, bone etc.... This is where the strings come off the bridge and then to the guitars nut. On a electric guitar the bridge saddles can be adjusted to set intonation, height of the strings and more...

Bridge - A guitars bridge is located at the bottom of a guitar.
This is where the strings are attached. The acoustic guitar strings
are held by pegs and on a electric guitar the strings are held by
the bottom of the guitars bridge. A trem system like Floyd Rose system is also considered a bridge.

Output Jack - This is where you plug your guitar cable in coming from a amplifier. almost Always 1/4"
