How to tune your guitar

Many guitarist just starting out overlook how important tuning really is. For example you can learn to play your favorite song(s) but if your guitar is just slightly out of tune it will sound horrible. Learning to tune correctly will fix all this and make it easier on everyones ears.




Following the instructions below on how to tune your guitar correctly. This is one of the most popular ways.


1. Tune your 6th string E to a pitch pipe or the use the 12 key (E) to the left of middle C on a piano.

2. Place your first finger on the 6th string 5th fret. This will give you the pitch of the 5th string A.

3. Place your first finger on the 5th string 5th fret. This will give you the pitch of the 4th string D.

4. Place your first finger on the 4th string 5th fret. This will give you the pitch of the 3th string G.

5. Place your first finger on the 3rd string 4th fret. This will give you the pitch of the 2th string B.

6. Place your first finger on the 2th string 5th fret. This will give you the pitch of the 1th string E.
