Grandson making movie about Guitar-Legend Grandfather

Actor Anthony Montgomery is getting to know his grandfather, the late great jazz guitarist John Leslie Montgomery. The grandfather in question is better known by his nickname -- Wes Montgomery -- and the guitar great called Indianapolis home until his death on June 15, 1968, at the age of 45.

Dan Armstrong Passes Away at Age 69
Legendary designer Dan Armstrong passed away on June 8, 2004 reportedly suffering from a massive stroke or heart attack. Dan Armstrong made a lasting mark on the music industry with his creations. Among his most well known and memorable designs would be the plexiglass guitars and basses, making their appearance in the 60's and reissued by Ampeg much more recently, and the classic Orange Squeezer compressor that simply plugged directly into a guitar's 1/4" jack. Other Dan Armstrong designs include the Purple Peaker and Green Ringer effects.

Discovery Channel's Show 'Big!' Builds a Giant Guitar
This coming Tuesday, the "BIG!" build team on Discovery Channel's new series takes on the daunting task of building a 30-foot, playable, electric guitar. In typical "BIG!" fashion, the team pulls it off and reveals the musical monster outside the Peter Frampton/Styx concert at the Universal City Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. To the delight of "BIG!" host, Frank Payne, Peter Frampton puts the enormous guitar to the test, providing an impromptu giant jam session to gawking fans.

Guitarist Robert Quine, one of punk rock's most daring soloists, was found dead Saturday in his New York apartment. He was 61.  According to close friend and guitar maker Rick Kelly, who discovered Quine's body, the musician died of a heroin overdose Memorial Day weekend. Pulse, Rhythm, & Meter
The durations of tonal music are divisible by the pulse. Pulses are organized into measures. Measures are organized by patterns of accents. Accents result from both rhythmic placement and harmonic content. The stability of consonance implies strong metrical placement. The embellishing character of dissonance implies relatively weak metrical placement. Techniques of syncopation, however, may displace a strong beat to a weak one by reversing these implicit associations. The affect of tonal music arises in large part from this interplay of pitch and rhythm. Consonance and dissonance, metrical uniformity and irregularity, all conspire to create dramatic patterns of expectations met, frustrated, and finally resolved. Read on........
