If your playing in the key of C for example you would play your blues solos in A minor pentatonic, Blues pentatonic. | Funk Blues Guitar Style |

| The following file is a 12 bar blues form with a funk style rhythm. Before we get started you must learn what we call a dead note or shown as an (X) with the chords below. A dead note is achieved by releasing your finger pressure off the chord for the duration of a sixteen note alternating from sounding the chord to deadening the chord. |

| Jimi Hendrix Style - Part 1 |

| Jimi Hendrix's guitar style is based from the blues style. He would almost always play his solo's from either the minor or major pentatonic scale or the blues pentatonic scales. Hendrix seemed to have three or four styles in one from Rock, Blues, Funk, Country. In his later years he even started venturing into Jazz. This is what made Hendrix's sound so unique! If you listen to the intro to Hey Joe, Hendrix uses an open E minor pentatonic scale as the basis of the lick. Below is the basic Hey Joe Lick. |

During Coltran's "Change Running period Coltrane employed most of the harmonic devices of his contemporaries. His use of chord substitutions was limited to the tri-tone and minor third substitutions. |
