Should I even consider looking at the Fender Standard Fat Strat Electric Guitar?

I've seen this same kind of thread 100's of times and here I go again

It's it sounds and plays good ---- it's good. Don't worry about the name. We can give you all kinds of makes and models but your the one who has to live with it after you buy it.

Good man. Play around and find what fits your style. If you like it and it plays for you, go for it. Don't look back and definitly don't let us set the tone for you. We're just throwin' out ideas for you but that's all they: Suggestions. All guitars are different. Even of the same make, model, and year. Find one that says "YOU" and make some bad a$$ music. Have fun with it!

Dean guitars are great and they have a good track record. If your into the real heavy metal look check out B.C Rich guitars.
You could also build your own. Italia guitar are cool and also Dillion guitars.

people look way to deep into the name. All guitars pretty much stick to the same wood like Alder,Ash,Maple Mahongany.

Rosewood or Ebony for the fretboard.

Most cheaper guitars are not a one peice or 2 peice body but layers of wood and the hardware it cheaper.

I've bought tons are cheaper guitars and simply upgraded them. Some of them play and sound just as good as a $3000 guitar.

50% of your sound is in your hands anyways.

yeah that's right if you buy a $3000 Les Paul and a Marshall half stack all tube, doesn't mean your going to sound good.

WOW!! Buying a good guitar with little cash is very hard to do. Perhaps looking at used guitars would be a better alternative than buying a cheap fender or an Ibanez. I owned both types and didnt care for either. My Ibanez 470 needed a complete overhaul before it played the way I liked it. The action SUCKED!!! Fender Squiers are just plain cheap guitars.
I dont know where to point you for a good cheap guitar except the used market. You may find a gem of a guitar some old lady had laying in her attic. Just keep your eyes open for the best deals. Stay away from cheap guitars their not worth the 150.00 to 200.00 you pay for them. In my opinion your throwing your money away. Just save some cash then hunt.

I agree about buying a used guitar...I have at least 3 or 4 posts explaining what to look for when buiyng used...I cant seem to find them at this point in time.

There are so many people who buy guitars every year in hopes of playing however they end up selling their guitar for a fraction of the price...check the classifieds in the newspaper...pawn shops and things of this nature and you can find a good deal.

Its always nice to bring a person who knows about guitars with you.

Things to look for when buying used guitars.

First thing i do is tap on the back of the neck...it should sound somewhat solid and not rattle.

Check neck to see if its warped...look down down neck and see if its warped.

Are the tuners loose...loose is bad.

check and see if there are any signs that the guitar has been dropped...cracked finish and things of this nature.

Plug the guitar in and see if it crackles or makes any unwanted noises and or if the tone and volume buttons work properly along with the toggle...I usually tap the pickups with fingernail while moving toggle to see what pickups are controlled by what toggle position and to see if pickups are working properly.

If anyone has anything to add to this list then please do so.

Looking for a goo guitar thats cheap? Go on the internet, and type in CRAIGS LIST and the city that you live in, youll probably find people in your area that are looking to sell quality instruments for cheap...they need the money. Stay away from pawn shops. In my opinion a seagull acoustic is a great guitar for under 500.00, i would have to agree that you have to find the guitar that plays for you. Go to a guitar shop, and find one...give it a couple of days go back, and play it again, you will know the second time around if that guitar is for you. I would also recommend saving the money that you have and waiting till you have enough money to buy a qualit guitar/breedlove/seagull/jackson... Why settle for something you are not completely satisfied with. Its better to wait and get exactly what you want, then to jump at the spur of a moment. With the 200.00 that you have it could be a good down payment, and then pay the rest off in installments... go to guitar center in your are, these guys specialize in just this sort of thing, then when you get what you want, you wont put it down

just go to you local guitar center,if you have one.you can go there and try out ANY guitar they have on display...and the amps too.really cool.ive been playing three years, and i have to say Ibanez has got me.they have some really good guitars.but go ahead and pick you favorite.you said you liked Keane,Green day?well,i dont, but im sure if you DID get a stater kit,you could try the Epiphone Special II starter kit for about $239.99
but again guitar center supplies alot of great guitars.but whatever floats you boat man.
