exactly what it says on the subject line really,
i use an ibanez RG7321 nowadays in my band, we play technical death grind
type stuff. it all sounds brutal enough but you know, you can always go
that extra step.
so i was just wondering if anyone can help me,
how do i get the best out of my 7 string?
any pedals i should take into consideration or anything?
new pick ups maybe?
thanks for your time.

You could always get a hotter humbucker. I like the tone zone Dimarzio
which is real hot. What pedals are you using now? |

haha, i dont use any pedals. just go with the good old amp distortion and
clean channels. seems to sound fine in my ears.
i have however, just ordered a BOSS DD3 but thats for another band i wish
to get off the ground.
I've Ordered a EMG 707 but i dunno how much benefit i'll get out of that.
theres just so much choice out there and stuff, very confusing lol.
I just want everything to sound like ion dissonance haha.
if your into crazy music, and haven't heard them already, you should check
them out.
cheers again. |

this is only if you have a bit of spare cash to blow.
i dunno if you're very handy with your tools however... with a 7-string you
can quite often find your amp's speakers dont produce as good a sound on
your low string. there are 3 ways you can go about this.
1 get a new combo/cab with larger speaker cones
2 get a bass cab and use a frequency splitter to allow the bass frequencies
to pass through this and the higher frequencies to pass through the guitar
speakers.
3 modify/make a combo/cab to include a regular guitar speaker and a sub and
use the frequency splitter technique.
just remember that techniques 2 and 3 would mean that you need to mic up
both speakers during performance and recording |
