Im looking to buy a new guitar to replace my old yet extremely playable Harmony H-17 Bobkat way back from the 40's (I'm not like 70, my dad gave it to me) . So I want to know what guitars you like.

So in your opinion what is the best guitar out there and why.

Loaded question. Before I give my opinion, ask yourself, professional or just enjoy playing? collector or just want a versatile guitar? There are another thousand questions. I have five electric guitars Gibsons, Fenders, and an Epiphone. Depends on what you like to play too.

The most versatile guitar I have is a Fender Stratocaster. It has a tremolo, can easily be modded or adjusted. If something isn't right it is an allen key away. Hendrix, Clapton, Yngwie, etc, all play (or played) a Strat as a primary instrument. You can make it sound a lot of different ways. If you had to buy one guitar, this would be my suggestion.
