Hi again,

I'm making more plans about my rig, and need some pointers. I'd like to connect a 5W tube amp head to a 1X12 or 2X12 cab with Celestion 25W 8 Ohm Greenbacks. First, I want to double check that this set-up will work (I read someone else describe it, so I'm assuming it does). Is it OK to match 25W speakers with a 5W head? Does the '25W' mark simply mean that's the maximum wattage you can match with these speakers?

Also, the amp has separate speaker outs marked 8 Ohm and 16 Ohm. If I wanted to get a 2X12 cab, how would I split the 16 Ohm speaker out for a pair of 8 Ohm speakers?

Any help with either of those matters would be a big help!

P. S. If it isn't already obvious, I have no experience whatsoever connecting amp heads to speaker cabinets. So maybe just some basic lessons in making that work would help me out.

Thanks!

Running 5 watts into 25 watt speakers fine. You will need to wire the 2 speakers in parallel to get 2 - 16 ohms speaks to "8 ohms"
If you wired 2 - 4 ohm speakers into series you would have also have a "8 Ohm load"

This topic has been posted before with pics on how to wire the speakers. Try the search feature in the forums.

Thanks! I'll check previous posts more thoroughly.
