I seen Dave live 2 or 3 times, he can play a bit.
He's no Marty Friedman but I've seen him throw in his share of chops.
not the greatest shredder. He's more of a song writer/shredder.
3.5 out of 5 from me.

Im not saying dave cant play however I dislike his playing...his leads have
no emotion to me...just a bunch of notes played fast...sorry man...thats
how I feel.
I will give him a 1.5 out of 5 for emotion.
As for his playing as a whole I guess I would go with a 3.5 out of 5 just
to be nice... :boxer: :giggly: ____________________ Treat people the way you would want to be treated. |

dave mustaine is a metal god.....he deserves props...H e LL, the first 2
metallica albums were a bunch of his riffs....he may not be able to
shred....but try singing and playin any of his riffs (like holy wars...the
punishment due).....granted megadeth put out a couple of boring albums like
risk...but rust in peace and all of megadeth's early material inspired a
new generation of metal heads....not to mention the guy has sold well over
15 million albums. ummmm has anyone here sold more that 15???? |

as for marty friedman....the words arrogance and P RI CK come to
mind........i saw him live and in a guitar clinic.....people asked him to
play certain passages (nothin to obscure), like the solos from hanger 18
and all that....he wouldn't play it....he replied that he didn't play that
stuff anymore....at least he signed a few autographs afterwords....not to
say that the guy can't play but....jason becker blew him off sage in
cacophony.........great inspiration there. |

Please remember...most of the best guitarists in the world are not famous
and chose not to persure fame...your comments about "has anyone here sold
over 15 million albums" is a novice point of view and very green in
statement.
I know many guitarists that would put this guy to shame because I know that
some of the best guitarists are not famous. ____________________ Treat people the way you would want to be treated. |

Daves greatest gift is his song writing ability. I could care less how
arrogant Marty is; the guy can play rings around Dave.
Becker was a great talent but that will be saved for another thread. ____________________
