O.K

I jumped ahead....this one is posted by suggestion of Telefreak.
I dont have a lot to offer on "Slash".
Guns and Roses had their brief flash of glory....I always felt Slash could play...but he sounded like so many others that he never stood out for me.

I'll give him a rating of 3.5 as a player and song writer....

This should be interesting seeing what others think of Slash....

Slash! he's ok but nothing to write home about. I him seen in CA. Slash and the snake pit I think it was called. He's has a great tone and some borrowed chops from the greats. he has the classic 80's setup using the JCM 800 same as the 2000 pretty much, with a Les Paul.

I give him 3.8 out of 5

This could get boring.

Isnt he Joe Perry with a hat on?

I can't add much either (this is goingto be fun). I never really got into guns'n'roses, despite owning all of their albums!

It seemed that for every good song they had, there would be 5 bad ones.

Still, at least Slash gave us an alternative to grunge, and dreadful bands like Nirvana. (sorry, I dont think lack of ability is ever cool).

In conclusion, I'd rank Slash with players like Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, etc- good players but hyped because of their bands success.

Sounds fair. I don't rate him on his playing in G'nR', it's his blues playing that I like.
He's just formed another band with the bassist and original rhythm guitarist from g'n'r, I forget the name, probably the Axl Rose detesting society or something.
3/5

And you all thought I was gonna rave on about how great he is

He got my vote just for "Mr. Brownstone" and the solo in "November Rain".Velvet Revolver is a rockin' band.I heard some bootleg cuts from a live show and it's heavy.

I heard a sound Bite from his new band....The lead singer from Stone Temple Piolts is fronting his band,....it sounded pretty darn good.......

I notice Slash uses a lot of triplets in his solos.....is this only me hearing this...? Or is this somewhat of a Slash signature lick...?

I think Slash has signature poses rather than signature licks.

He's one of those guitarists that seem to get mentioned everywhere!

Wrote some nifty songs though.

Time to move on think... :whip:
