the reason im posting this is because i would like peoples opinion on this,
iam an equipment person, and love to indulge in the millions of products
for the guitar out there from amplifiers to the different picks available
to people. one of the most debated area i have encountered over my 4 years
of guitar playing is the issue of a distortion pedal. i own a marshall
vs265 135 watt combo with two distortions built into it, they are very
nice, but for some reason i feel that adding another external source
(specifically in the form of a distortion pedal) will really boost the
sound, but the million dollar question, what is a good distortion pedal???
clearly the pricier the pedal does not mean they are better, for example
steve vai has bogner, carvin stacks on tour but still uses boss ds1 or ds2
distortion pedals which are 40 us dollars on top of those amazing amps. so
i wanna know what you all think on this issue, any reccomendations for
pedals will be much appreciated and also what do people think about the new
zakk wylde overdrive pedal, check out sound samples here;

SO...now that i have written that book, if you could please give your
advice, opinions, knowledge, it would be much appreciated.
thanks a million

Ok, Zakk Wylde uses a DS1, so his sig pegal is a waste of time.
I have a boss SD2, It's a dual overdrive, like 2 pedals in one, great
pedal, like a 2 channel amp in a little box.
I never use my amps OD since this any mt Marshall Guv'nor have it pretty
much covered ____________________ Technology, not technique

I wouldn't say the Zakks signature pedal was waste of time.
I haven't heard it yet but I'm sure it tweaked in.
Proberly like the Boss DS1 but with more balls........
Just a guess.
Keep in mind alot of famous guitar players are endorsing certain products
where they get there picture taken playing these products. So it's a money
thing for the guitarist and company. Advertising. Most guitarist like
Zakk,Steve Vai, Eric Johnson use what everyone else is using maybe with a
slight modification.
Like I always say! If it sounds good it's good, that simple.

| I would have to say, in my own opinion, that Boss makes the best pedals. I
would recommend a Boss Overdrive/Distortion for you. they have a really
good sound to them. alot of body and edge. But that is just my opinion. and
it never hurts to check it out. there you go. ____________________ This birdhouse, this desolate cage, my umbrella's upside down in the rain |

Try out a Fulltone FullDrive 2. Awesome pedal in the Tube Screamer realm,
but more smooth and refined. Plus it has two footswitches - the second is a
boost with its own control. Very musical pedal, super high quality, easily
worth the $175-200 price tag, IMO. I can't live without mine.

| I have tried many and could have any I want,but I use a ZOOM PD-01
overdrive. It's as good as a Klon Centaur, which it is copied after.ZOOM's
HyperLead distortion pedal is very good also. ____________________ Randy's Official Site
