Do you keep your guitar or guitars in a case at home...I was going to post this in off topic however it is guitar talk...So where do you keep it...

I have 3 guitars in my rec room leaning up in the corner of the room...3 guitars...3 corners...when I feel like picking one up its ther dust and all...I wipe them down however I cant stand digging my guitar out of a case because I use it many times in a day...

I was wondering what others do...lean it against the wall or whatever...I know dust is not good however I live with it.

This is an odd question however I was wondering how much guitarist had in common with this subject...Oh and I hate guitar stands...do you?

I have guitars everywhere. I even have one in the bathroom :giggly:

I have wall mounts where I hang my personal guitars. If I need a certain guitar I just pull it off the wall. I have also ahve a mini guitar next to the computer at all times.

U can pick up a guitar rack at pretty much any guitar store fer about 20 bucks. They just sit wherever but i thiink it's safer for the guitar ( far less chance of being knocked over) on one of those opposed to just leaning on the wall. And for the dust issue maybe just throw a towel or sheet over it when u put it away and you know ur not gonna play that particular one for a while. Whether or not u do the sheet thing i dont think it matters, but u should get the little guitar stands. They look alot better too.

I agree that it would be a pain to have to get your guitar out of the case each time you play, especially if you play it often. However, it would probably be better to use wall mounts, and then your guitars would be readily available, as well as room decor.

Does anyone know of any detrimental effects of having a guitar lean against the head for long periods of time?

If you play an acoustic, and live in a dry area where you have to humidify your guitar, it may be wise to keep it in its case!

Hey, I'm new at this, so what do I know?

Its fine to lean it in a corner...it will not fall...most of the weight is on the body not the neck...it works great.

wall mounts sound good...How much are they and how high up do you mount them.

Sorry about that guys, I hit the wrong key.

Wall hangers are about $20 each and you can mount them anywhere there is a stud.

You can get them at most guitar shops. Just go to your search engine and enter guitar hanger... :giggly:

$20 bucks isnt bad...I could probably make my own from wood...what material are these wall hangers made of.

Oh I would recomend putting your guitars in their cases if you have kids runnin around...

Any body have any guitar mishaps or disasters like guitars being broke...

I have one...we were camping...someone borrowed my fathers guitar to play by the campfire...the guy was told to put it in the case and put it in the camper when he was done...the guy forgot...it was close to the end of summer...when we woke up the next day the guitar was on a chair outside among the elements. The guitars finished had cracked right down the middle of the guitar...ouch...not good...I cant remember the brand name however I recall the words that cost me $500 many times...lol.

I keep my Tele in a guitar rack when I'm not playing him, I wouldn't suggest leaning it against the wall . While this may not hurt the guitar, it could get knocked over and damaged that way. Or if it falls it might break something else...
