How would you rate your general knowledge in music theory!

| Absolutely rubbish, I'm mostly self taught so I just play what I think
sounds good. ____________________ Technology, not technique

I learned to play on my own without any theory knowledge but I figured if I
learned the language I would be a better player.
The best thing about theory it takes all the guess work out of playing.....
It will save you alot of time knowing what scales go with what chords or
vice versa...
It's very important to maintain your creativity while learning the theory
side or you might be another theory book worm casualty ...

i would give myself an 7 out of 10, but to add to that, i started 4 years
ago by taking lessons and i was like, wow theory is really boring, and then
i left it for a year, but a year later i went back for some reason, and
this is just me, it differs from person to person and how people learn, but
i felt that soloing is a heck of a lot easier after knowing your scales,
and it is absolutely necesarry to keep your creative side while learning
the scales etc...but i would reccomend guitar lessons to anyone, as they
helped me out alot, but of course you dont have to as jimi hendrix did
teach himself how to play the guitar. |
