Hey Everyone,
I am a newbie to the guitar and I was just wondering what a good beginner
guitar would be for a person with the price range from $250-500. Just give

Hey Thanks for the advice but for some reason I forgot to mention that I
wanted a dreadnought acoustic in that price range. So if you guys can help
me out that would be awesome.

YOu can get a decent acoustic guitar for your price range. Washburn has
some nice acoustics and so do other companies. I would reccomend looking at
some online or here of course. Then go to your local music store for a few
hours and figure out which one you like.

JohnL is right. I suffered massively to buy my good acoustic. Eveyone told
me to try different guitars and buy the one I liked but this is not a easy
process. I went to about six shops before I found my new baby. Every guitar
sounds differernt I only looked at one brand and one model and they all
sound diferent I will give you the Mick test. Stum a few chords on all of
the possibles to narrow it down. That should cull it down a bit. Next I
played a major scale up and down the neck I did this to look for dead spots
make sure that the tone and volume are even. If you do this you can get a
$500 guitar that sounds better than some guitars twice the price. Happy

I gotta say, dude, I'm a BIG believer in electric guitars for first
guitars, for a number of reasons:
1. They sound so cool, that you'll get hooked very quickly
2. They are far easier to play when you're just learning.
3. They become kind of a hobby. There's always a little something you're
going to want to get to tweek it - a new amp, pedal, whatever.
Advice: Don't buy anything with a tremolo bar. You don't need it. Most
great guitar players use it only once in a while, and it is a world of
frustration trying to tune an entry level guitar that has a trem bar.
As far as brands go, I recently bought a Dillion. I am very happy with it.
My son recently bought a Squire Strat - not so happy. I'm also a fan of
Washburns for beginner guitars. I'm a believer in staying away from the
name brand guitars unless you're buying their top-of-the-line. Otherwise
you're paying for the name, and it can be quite a junky guitar.

Dillion guitars are cool.
Which model I'm beginning to like these guitar alot. A friend of mind just
bought the DR1500X. He had to call since it's not listed on this website
yet.
Great guitar for the money.
I would recommend a electric as your first guitar ____________________
Get the name to sell first then the trend makes millions.

things to look for:
A:in a dealer/shop
1:warranty for the instrument
2:service after the sale
3:proper set up before you buy
4:willingness to make YOU happy,not to just sell you something
B:in a guitar(acoustic)
1:ease of play
2:ability to stay in tune and have proper intonation across the strings and
up the neck also.
3:sound/tone
4:quality/finish/workmanship
if i were you ,id be looking at a samik or a dean(same company makes both i
hear)also the cort "earth"series uses some nice woods for the price and
altho i havent tried one myself i do have a cort jim triggs model(1st
yr/single baby humbucker),and its a great guitar,especially considering
what i paid for it....good luck grasshopper

| I recomend buying an electric guitar first...Guitar is not easy to learn
and electric makes learning much more enjoyable...Once you learn electric
then acoustic becomes second nature...I also would recomend bringing
someone who knows a little something about guitars with you when you
buy...Dont buy a guitar because of its name brand or how nice it
looks...every brand builds lemons...Find the best quality guitar for the
price regardless of look or brand name. ____________________
