Well the title should give anyone a good idea what this is about hopefully,
but basically I was wondering if, in light of me just getting the
intonation on my guit-fiddle touched up, down tuning your guitar to
something relatively minor like Eb standard or D standard would mess that
up in any way. Any thoughts?

Down tuning will not change or mess up your intonation unless you changed
it yourself by turning them little screws. |

aha excellent, thank you. I just figured it might have something to do with
neck tension somehow but i didn't actually know or not. its good to get the
answer rather risk it by wingin' it. at the time of posting, my guitar is
in Eb so it is time for the Hendrix and SRV covers to come pouring out,
huzzah! |

Actually, you should check your intonation everytime you restring or change
tuning. When neck relief is altered by a different guage of strings or
down/up tuning, the distance between the nut and the bridge saddle is
altered, thus throwing off intonation. It might not be much, and some
people probably dont care if it is slightly out, but if you want your
guitar to sound awesome, make sure your intonation is always perfect by
checking it frequently. |
