hi, i am a guest here, and i have been playing for just over a year.
i've got a new set of strings but i've been trying to tune them up to normal for 3 weeks now and they just feel on the verge of snapping(still not up to normal).
are there any other ways of getting them tuned up faster??its urgent and i need it for band practice.
thanx

Hmm, not sure what you mean.
There will be tension/resistance against the tuners, you're stretching metal after all, just ignore it and keep tuning.
If it's going out of tune all the time, you need to check that the strings aren't slipping on the tuner posts, also, there should be a screw on top of the tuner button that may need tightening to keep it in tune.
Also, use the best strings you can afford, cheap ones will pull out of tune far too easily

Your strings should have a little slack tuned in A 440
I recommend losening your strings until they are slack and slowly tuning them up to the correct pitch.

I've had students trying to tune there guitar an octave higher and
end up breaking strings.

Just remember they shouldn't be as tense as say the strings on a banjo etc.....
