Yo. I'm MasterDan, and as you can probably figure, my real name is Dan. I'm in a group, and its called Black-Dove, and yes, it is still forming.

Right now, I have the choice of buying a Honer Flying-V. Oh yea, it needs work... But its better than what I have right now. I have a Kawai guitar with 4 pickups, and I don't think all of them work. I need a guitar upsize, man.

So I found this Flying-V, and the guy wants to sell it for $70...well, I'll offer $30. Cuz I'm gonna repaint it, buy new strings, a new panel thing for the back(I don't know what its called. Covers up all the wiring), and most importantly, its gonna need some new pickups.

Do you know where I can find some cheap A$$ humbuckers? I'm talkin like less than $25... This guitar won't be too hard to restore. I mean, the paint job will cost me like $10. (I have the equipment...) The strings, well, we all know those aren't too expensive. But the humbuckers and whatever that backpanel thing is called is what worries me.

Help me out!

You can buy panel blanks through most guitar shops to make your own covers, that's the best bet for you on that.

As for cheap humbuckers, they are everywhere. You can buy a cheap one at practically any guitar store, ebay, online store etc. Good sounding and high quality hb's are when you have to ask where to get them.

thanks,

Look on the web for companies like WD music products and other guitar spares companies.
Good/cheap pickups to look out fotr are Kent armstrongs.
The Flying V sounds great, always liked the look of them, I'm just not a humbucker man, I'd need P90's if I had one

Well, i've found plenty of places with these panels... But how do you use them? Do you cut them out to the shape you need them in??

You need to get the righ panel for a flying V and trim it to fit, unless you just buy the plastic and cut your own
