Hi everyone,
I have been playing strats for as long as i can remember due to the
versatility of them and the awesome tones you can achieve.
The main thing that i love about the strat is the volume control...on
number 10 it allows for a great deal of overdrive, but once you back off
the volume to number 6 the tone cleans right up to achieve some rhythm
tones...The problem i have is one paticular strat i own with humbuckers in
the neck and bridge and a single coil in the middle. There is absolutely no
volume control to this guitar..Number 10 is balls out,..but when i turn the
volume down there is no difference in tone until the pot reaches number 1
which produces a very weak signal.
Is there a mod to solve this problem??...ive just put a dimarzio 500k pot
in and its still the same. |

Are the tone pots and the rest original? |

Hi, The pickups and pots aren't original, only the 3 way is.
I've wired the guitar to only utilise one volume and no tone pots, as i
very seldom use the tone knobs..
The band i play in is a twin guitar based rock band and the need for
controllable volume is essential as there is alot of light and shade in our
songs. Some solos build up and sometimes swap from one guitar to the other,
so having the ability to turn down makes the other guitarisy heard and
doesn't drownd him out.
I wired the guitar up myself as i do with most strats but for some reason
there is no controlable volume,...Would it help if i tried different size
pots?..250k 500k 1m?
