I recently purchased a new guitar, for some odd reason I was more concerned
with higher on the neck fretted notes and didn't really bother checking
lower notes. That's my bad, but it seems like it could be a relatively easy
fix. The first fret (the wire directly following the nut) is too high and
unless I have the action ridiculously high it buzz's open notes. When I
initially bought the guitar the action was perfect and sounded great, but
like I said oddly I didn't test open notes.
My question is how I would go about fixing it. Lower the fret, by either
seeing if it's sprung or can be re-crowned or if there's a way to raise the
nut for clearance? It's a locking nut so it can be easily removed. It's a
sweet Axe and plays great except for the open buzzing. |
