Hey. I keep having this problem with my pick-up selector. Its a 5 way
switch, and with frequent use, some of the rarely used positions stop
functioning properly. Sometimes, there's a lot of crackling, popping etc on
my amp, when i switch up or down. Sometimes It doesn't make proper contact,
and a very muffled sound seems to come out - and the selector requires some
jamming around, for it to make proper contact. I had this problem earlier,
and I took it to some guy, he popped some liquid into the selector's
groove, and shook the guitar like he was trying to rip it in 2, and by the
end of it, the issue was fixed. Now I have no clue what he used, but the
bottle said carbon tetrachloride. Apparently, when the volume and Eq knobs
on the amps cause such problems they drop a few drops of Acetone (nail
polish remover), and it dislodges the carbon deposits from the contacts.
Is there anything I may be able to make / procure or something similar I
can do to get rid of this issue.
