| Hi. I recently purchased a Gibson Les Paul Studio, in great shape, and have
been playing it about a week. I am very impressed with basically everything
about it, but when I bought it I had actually intended to buy an Epiphone
Les Paul Custom, but being out of stock I took this Gibson for about 50
dollars more. You probably think I'm crazy to even think about an epiphone
over a gibson, but I just am really in love with the custom, and I was
wondering what people's thoughts were on maybe trading in my Gibson Les
Paul Studio for an Epiphone Custom. ____________________ Signatures are gay. |

This question is asked often! One thing that alot of guitarist don't know
is Epiphone was before Gibson and later Gibson bought Epiphone out.
Epiphone guitars are now made oversees to cut costs and make then more
affordable. Gibson LesPauls will bring more of a trade value if your into
the guitar collecting thing but as a player who cares about that NOT ME! I
like them both and would play both regardless of what people think. There's
also other Les Paul copies out there that I've played that was just as good
as the real thing. One that comes to mind is the Dillion DL650Q this guitar
is amazing.

The big thing is Gibson is made in the USA which the craftsman ship is
often better.

If you like the Gibson Standard why switch???? Don't get me wrong the
Epiphone Les Paul Custom is a great guitar but what's the fuss..... Is it
the looks of the Epiphone Les Paul Custom that grabs you????
Hell, buy the Epiphone Les Paul Custom and keep the Gibson LP too... Can't
never have enough guitars laying around. |

I play an Epiphone Les Paul standard Elite-which just means it has upgraded
pickups,
tuners etc. and is hand inspected and adjusted before leaving the factory.
All for a couple hundred bucks more than the non-elite series. I have
played the real Gibson Pauls and I'll keep my epi any day. |

I have to laugh!
Look, if you like the EPI then buy it. Keep the gibson also as Brian
sugest.
As far as which guitar is better, the Gibson is a much better crafted
gutar. Woods, hardware and craftsmanship. The EPI's are nice guitars and
for the price you really cant beat them. But in comparison and sound it's
not even a close call as to which is the superior guitar.
Also the Gibson is a valued guitar by collectors. If you buy a Gibson what
you actually have done was made an investment. Many years down the road
when your old and grey if you still have that Les Paul and you have taken
care of it, it will pay-off in a big way if you want to sell it.
Playing and collecting go hand in hand. There are tons of collectors
looking for vintage Gibson,Fender,Gretch,Rickenbackers and others. |
