1/11/2006 at 10:05Im going to be buying a Telecaster in the near future (at least im pretty
sure i am) and was wondering if there was any particular amp that sounds
best with this. Trading in my Behringer GMX212 as its just too big for me
right now.
Any suggestions?
1/11/2006 at 13:52It depends on the tone your looking for.
1/11/2006 at 14:05Well i like to play stuff along the lines of Pearl Jam & Red Hot Chili
Peppers.... and some Hendrix that i can learn, if any lol.
I dont want a tone that is too 'thick' if that makes any sense.
1/12/2006 at 01:08Well, all those guys you mentioned use(d )Marshall stacks so I'm guessing
you'd need something that'll give you a pretty Marshall kind of tone
1/13/2006 at 18:25Look for the 800 series if you can find them
1/15/2006 at 10:49Marshall stacks are way cool, but unless you're playing stadiums, you
probably don't need one. A tube amp with EL34's would do nicely, but tubes
run kinda pricey. One nice option is the Rivera line, which are very nice (
possibly a Pubster or Clubster, which are something under a grand ).
Another possibility is the Line6 series - which are digital - and tend to
do well with amp modeling ( including Marshalls ). These are quite
affordable and I've played through one for over six months at my guitar
instructor's studio. See Harmony Central for reviews. Tele's rock.
1/15/2006 at 19:28I have a tele, and play mostly country, but I use a Deluxe Reverb, has a
single 12" speaker, with a Behringer X V-amp for effects and it sounds
really nice.......
1/15/2006 at 20:31Is it a Blackface or Silverface
1/27/2006 at 12:38I used owned a early 60's blackface and it was a great amp for the studio.
It had that nice blues breakup when cranked up. Wish I had it back
2/1/2006 at 14:54Greetings folks...newbie here!
Good idea on the telecaster...one of the best guitars ever, IMO.
I have a SF twin reverb that works awesome with my telecaster. I can't
think of a better combo.
One caveat...you won't make a twin break up unless you have a
overdrive/distortion pedal. I CAN make mine break up, but the cops are
usually rolling in the driveway by then.
2/15/2007 at 03:08How about a 66 Supro Thunderbolt? Jimmy and Jimi can't be wrong?
Seriously, there are so many pickup choices[ quiet?..try Kinman], you
really have to try the amps with the guitar before you buy.
