7/6/2004 at 14:48I'm looking for an amp for either an epiphone G-100 or a fender strat...on
a budget though and i don't know what to get!

7/6/2004 at 21:52How much do you want to spend
7/7/2004 at 01:45it's to be used for practice, and I don't want to spend more than about
$200.
7/7/2004 at 02:48add another 100, and I'd suggest a Marshall MicroStack 15W. But, since
we're at 200, let's save you some dough and keep it in house at the same
time.
Gorilla Practice 20W
amp. This is plenty to get you up and running, and it won't
drain your fund. This saves your bacon in either one of the two possible
scenarios you're going to find yourself in a couple of months from now:
1) You've decided you hate the guitar, and you want to either park the gear
in the closet and move on, or try to hawk it on eBay. Resale value sucks,
but lucky for you, you didn't dump all of your dough on an amp that you
don't want and can't get your money back on
OR
2) You love the guitar, that's great to hear!!! You've decided to move on
to bigger and better things, whether it be goof with some other people, or
pick up the decibals while going solo. You've had a couple of months to
learn your likes/dislikes of your current setup and are now prepared to
make an informed decision. You've also smartly saved the 100 bucks under
the Playboys under your bed(don't deny it, I saw them) towards the purchase
of your next amp. You can keep the Gorilla since there will always be a
need for a less than fullsize amp to be lying around.
If you need a few more scenarios, please let me know, and I'll come up with
some...
thanks,
json
7/7/2004 at 23:35The Orange C15 crush is also a good little practise amp.
A friend of mine has one, he's even used it to record in the studio, I
believe it has a line out socket so you can plug an extension cab into
it.
They're ?75 over here in england, dunno what that is in dollars, probably
$130-140
8/25/2004 at 22:43I use a peavey stereo chorus 212 but that's a little over your budget. Try
the V-amp2 all you need then are headphones or plug into the mixing board.
VERY versatile sounds. You can hear what it will do here if you like. It
got me lots of attention.

8/26/2004 at 02:22I always buy used gear. There are so many people who buy a nice guitar and
amp and end up selling because they couldnt learn.I like The Fender
Prinston chourus. Its not to far out of your price range if you buy second
hand.
8/26/2004 at 14:57what do you mean you need it for either a strat or a g-100 do you own both
of those guitars or neither of them?
8/27/2004 at 00:38I was also wondering if you were going to purchase the guitar or guitars or
if you already owned.Thanks
8/29/2004 at 05:26the strat and the g-100...
I've tried both and I'm buying either one.
8/29/2004 at 18:20I would not buy a new strat...they are junk...Thats just an informed
opinion.
8/29/2004 at 20:18how about the mexican strats? I was also thinking of getting a G&L guitar,
'cause I've heard they're alot better then fender. But I haven't heard
about their prices
8/29/2004 at 21:10I looked at the G&L guitars and they look like fenders.I would buy a tele
style before I would buy a strat style...The strats bridge/tremlo is not a
floyd rose and it will only agravate you in the long run. What type of music
is this for...country,blues,rock,or do you want an all purpose guitar.Any
guitar can be an all purpose guitar however when you have an inferior
tremlo you limit the guitars potential.
Im going to check out the epiphones.
Ps...Buy second hand...You will get an excellent guitar for the price of a
cheap new one...There are always people selling their guitars because they
couldnt learn. If you are informed on how to buy second hand then it is the
right way to go...Same goes for an amp.
9/2/2004 at 02:54oops typo... the g-400, not the g-100
the g-100 doesn't exist
9/2/2004 at 23:15I was looking for the 100 but couldnt find it.I thought It was an old
guitar they didnt make any more.
