I needed a killer small tube amp for the smaller club gigs we do.I have finally found it,a Rivera R55-12.Groove Tube EL-34's.2 channel with a boost on each channel.Great reverb.12" Celestion speaker. All the gain I need.Good clean sounds.Gonna do 3 gigs with it this weekend. Can't wait.

I have no idea what a Riviera 55-12 is, but judging from the spec, it sound like it should be fantastic.
Give us a review of it and we might be able to get it posted on the main part of the forum.

After the first gig with the Rivera,I have found out that this amp is classic Rock and Blues Rock heaven.Tonight's gig is a little more variety,so I'll get to try a few different tones. So far I am extremely happy with it.It gets that Tone my Marshall JCM-800 gets, probably due to the EL-34 tubes it has.I'll write more tomorrow after I get to work the amp a little more.

I've read some hot reviews on this amp but haven't heard it yet....

Let us know how it goes.....

After 3 gigs with this amp,i have decided it's a keeper.I love the 2 channel with a boost on each channel, all footswitchable which gives you 4 distinct tones. It's not a low end growler,it's perfect for 70's and 80's rock, which is what my band does. It's plenty loud enough for a small/medium venue up to 200 seats. It's got a bit of gain to give a helluva rhythm crunch and good for solos.Song examples that this amp shines on are:

  • ZZ TOP-Lagrange/Tube Snake Boogie/Tush

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd-Free Bird/That Smell/Gimme 3 Steps

  • AC/DC-Hell's Bell's/You Shook Me All Night Long/T.N.T.

  • Quiet Riot-Metal Health

  • Journey-Lights/Wheel in the Sky/Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'

  • Georgia Satellites-Keep Your Hands to Yourself

    Kansas-Carry on Wayward Son

    Neil Young-Like a Hurricane/Hey Hey My My

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan-Cold Shot/Pride and Joy/The House is Rockin'

All this and it's easily portable, espescially compared to a half stack at the 50-100 seat clubs we sometimes gig at.

Had a Rivera KHR 55 for 3 years now. Have not heard better....still.
Paul is a nice guy too [for a genius]. He modded mine for a small fee.
