I just bought the new JVM series combo. The amp sounds phenomenal but I get alot of noise on the high gains modes on OD1 and OD2. The volume of the hiss gets louder as I increase the master volume. This occurs even with no guitar signal running to the input. Turning down the gain does help but then what's the point of a high gain setting if it makes so much noise. I love the tone I get but the noise is too much. Any ideas?

overdrive/gain will give you hiss especially high gain..

Hi Jason, If you have a tube amp, buy some top quality preamp tubes and try switching them around to see if you can eliminate the noise. I have a Rivera KHR 55, it started to hiss after a gig [might have got bounced] and I switched out one of the preamp tubes and that was the end of that. Better cables may help. Flourescent lights are brutal, near any of those? Single coil pickups? Cheap effects?Remember the chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Then again sometimes an amp has an electronic problem, if all else fails, bring it to a tech to see.

Guys, I have a mesa boogie and am using a digitech250. No noise while at home at any volume. Playing onstage I get unnerving noise which cancels out when I point my guitar at the amp (distance doesn't matter). My amp has new tubes and has been completely overhauled. So I'm looking for some kind of electrical interface which may counter the large halogen lights' hz.
Any ideas?

I've had problems with lighting before and it sound like the same problem your having. Also sometimes there a ground loop when the outlets are not properly grounded or the main ground is missing. This is especially true with older clubs etc.

i just got a thd hot plate and it has a built in noise reduction and works great it also allows you to crank your amp but makes the high volume into lower volume , it works your tubes hard so you can crank your gain with no hiss or noise. but it has to be the right ohm and has to be a true tube amp
