11/6/2004 at 05:27I'm sure there are piles of lessons and tutorials regarding this stuff on
here somewhere, but excuse my noob'ness, I don't know my way around yet. I
am totally self taught through trial and error as are pretty much all of
the people I have played with (stupid punk rock roots
). As a result, I
have technical proficiency, but I constantly find myself in awe wondering
how some player did some weird sweep or something. Are there and
semi-advanced lead technique threads around anywhere? Like I said, I am
new, so if this is in the wrong place I apologise. Cheers.

Do dig in to theory...then
learn how to pick, I know this may sound strange, but believe me THIS
MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.
Many self taught guys think they know how to pick. What they do may be
fine, but to adavance you have to develop this technique.
My picking hand will out pace my fingers by far. It used to be the other
way around. A simple flowing motion of the pick D-U-D-U- then U-D-U-D try
not to atrnate and skip over the string to pick it.
Im sure theres a lesson on this site somewhere which will explain this
technique much better....ask BRIAN...he can point you.

together and now use a combination of fingers and thumbnail...It gives a
whole different sound to what Im playing.
